OUR UNITARIAN UNIVERSALIST PRINCIPLES
(IN LANGUAGE FOR CHILDREN)

  • We believe that each and every person is important.
  • We believe that all people should be treated fairly.
  • We believe that our churches are places where all people are accepted and where we keep on learning together.
  • We believe that each person must be free to search for what is true and right in life.
  • We believe that everyone should have a vote about things that concern them.
  • We believe in working for a peaceful, fair and free world.
  • We believe in caring for our planet earth.
Reverend Tricia Tummino - Minister
Laura Stevens - Director of Religious Education

Care for Infants and Toddlers

Nursery Care is provided for infants and toddlers up to 3 years old. The nursery offers a safe, fun space for babies and young toddlers, supervised by a loving caretaker who is available each week. In addition, our volunteer "baby rockers", those in the congregation who love babies, are always ready to lend a hand. The nursery is available from 10:15 to 11:45 each Sunday.

Children Three Years and Older

Children three years and older begin their Sunday morning in the sanctuary at 10:30, proceeding to classes after the story. To insure their safety, all children will be with their parents during this intergenerational worship time.

Registration begins September 13 and is ongoing. The registration fee is $10 per child (max. $25 per family). Scholarships are always available; please speak to the Minister or the Director of Religious Education.

TAPESTRY OF FAITH CURRICULUM

The Tapestry of Faith is a new integrated curriculum for Unitarian Universalists of all ages developed by the Unitarian Universalist Association (UUA). The curriculum integrates four strands:

  • Ethical Development
  • Spiritual Development
  • Unitarian Universalist Identity
  • Faith Development
  • Additionally, independent lessons on each of the UU Principles will be interspersed throughout the church year.

Three to Five Year Olds: Wonderful Welcome

This curriculum explores how and why we are willing to welcome others into our lives. We welcome by sharing intangible gifts such as kindness, love, covenant and empathy.

Six to Eight Year Olds: Faithful Journeys

This curriculum focuses on strengthening Unitarian Universalist identity through historic or contemporary examples of faith in action. Children discover a unity of faith in the many ways we can act on our beliefs.

Nine to Eleven Year Olds: Toolbox of Faith

This curriculum invites participants to reflect on the qualities of our Unitarian Universalist faith, such as integrity, courage and love.

    Youth Group Chalices

    Youth Group Chalices

    Junior Youth Group

This year we are offering Our Whole Lives (OWL), a comprehensive sexuality class for all young people in grades 7-9. The group meets 2 times per month on Sunday evenings.

    Intergenerational Gathering of Youth (IGGY)

The Intergenerational Gathering of Youth (IGGY) is a group of youth and young adults of varying ages and meets monthly on Sunday afternoons for friendship, service, worship and some silliness. Youth group members plan their meetings and select their projects with the help of their advisors. Traditional activities include the Walk for Hunger, camp-outs, service projects and a Sunday morning IGGY youth-led worship. Our youth are also welcome to assist in the church school program as child care providers, assistants and teachers. In addition, youths are encouraged to join our adult worshipping community on Sunday mornings and to participate in adult religious education classes and choir as their interests dictate.

Purposes of the Religious Education Program

To develop a deeper understanding of Unitarian Universalism and what it means to be a Unitarian Universalist.

To explore the beliefs, traditions and cultures of our world so that we will be aware and respectful of its religions and rich social diversity.

To build within our church a sense of community where exploring and learning are pleasant and enjoyable.

To provide an environment where it is physically, emotionally and intellectually safe to explore who we are and what we think.

To encourage all of us to enjoy, appreciate, and care for the natural world.

To be involved in the work towards peace and justice.

To promote life-long learning and spiritual growth.

To balance fun, worship, learning, leadership, and service.

We believe in lifespan education - Ask to see our adult education, Chalice Thursday listing.
