Thank you for visiting us.
September through the Third Sunday in June, 10:30 – 11:30 a.m.
End of June through the End of August, 9:00 – 10:00 a.m.
Welcome to the First Unitarian Universalist Society of Middleborough! We are an inclusive religious community whose center is love. We work together to build a world that is more loving and more just for all people. Our rainbow banner lets it be known that we are a Welcoming Congregation, which means we celebrate and affirm gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender persons. The flaming chalice, lit at the beginning of every service, is our Unitarian Universalist symbol of love, hope, freedom, and faith in action.
Our worship services are broadcast on local cable television in Middleborough and Lakeville.
We have three ways of entering our church! Two have stairs and one is handicap accessible.
- Up the front steps to the double doors and into the vestibule.
- Alongside the front sidewalk to our lower-level entrance. This will open to our Parish Hall where you’ll find an elevator, our Religious Exploration classes for children, and our restrooms and changing tables.
- Side entrance from Nickerson Avenue leading to a split entry; up a short flight to the Parlor and Sanctuary, and down a flight to the Parish Hall.
As you enter our doors, you will be greeted by one of our members. In the front vestibule and the Parlor you’ll find a Welcome Table with literature about Unitarian Universalism and our church. We will be happy to answer any questions you may have. Please stop by to sign in and receive a visitor’s name tag. You can also get additional information about current activities and events and find opportunities to meet with our minister.
Come as you are! Our dress ranges from casual to Sunday best and everything in between. If you arrive early and would like to look around the building, please feel free! To get to know us better, you can also sign up for our weekly Updates, as well as our monthly Newsletter.
Services are held upstairs in the Sanctuary from September to June, and downstairs in our air-conditioned Parish Hall July and August. Most Sundays we host “On Topic” in the Parlor – an opportunity to discuss whatever grabbed your attention during worship. And, of course, after every service, you’ll find refreshments and friendly conversation downstairs in our Parish Hall.
We’re proud of our Adult Education and special events that provide wide-ranging learning and networking opportunities within UU Middleboro and around the region. Check our calendar online for dates and times. We suggest that you begin with “Beginnings,” a newcomer class that is offered often throughout the church year.
Children are always welcome at UU Middleboro! Religious Exploration programming is offered during Sunday morning services, and child care is available for most Adult Program classes.
