Pastoral Care

We provide short-term physical help to individuals and families within our congregation who are in need, ill or otherwise troubled. While we cannot offer emergency or ongoing assistance, we can offer support with:

  • Meals
  • Rides to appointments and church events
  • Cards
  • Prayer shawls for comfort
  • Visiting choirs

We will rely on all of us to let us know when one of us needs a helping hand.  We know that it can be difficult to ask for help for ourselves sometimes.

Lay Pastoral Care Ministers

We offer emotional and spiritual support to individuals and families going through life crises and difficult challenges.  We are called to be a caring presence and witness to those struggling with

  • Bereavement, death and dying
  • Illness and medical issues
  • Parenting issues
  • Marital crises
  • Personal crises
  • Other life-altering events

Our Lay Pastoral Care Ministers will participate in training to help each other enhance their capacity to provide support, empathy and trust.  We will not offer counseling or therapy or advice.

In all our work, we will honor confidentiality unless those we are visiting are putting themselves or others at risk.  On request, we will arrange with the Minister and the Parish Care providers to coordinate support as needed.
