SIX FEET APART
Six feet apart walking along the street, standing in line at the store, chatting with friends, passing by strangers. Our days are different now and will stay that way for some time to come. The most radical change is the notion that all of us, healthy and unhealthy, have a new mandate in our interactions – if we can have interactions at all: six feet apart.
Strangely enough, this is not the first time I’ve encountered that particular stricture. There are people who have been living with chronic conditions their whole lives, maintaining their own thriving and supportive communities. Although we may never know what it is like to live with such challenges, we will share their ‘six feet apart’ rule for months. Let’s not forget what we learn.
