Virtual Service Information for Sunday, March 22, 2020

UU UPDATES – FRIDAY EDITION
March 20, 2020

Greetings Everyone – and how are you?  Are you taking care of yourself the way Rev. Di Bona suggested?  I will say it is great to get out and wander; and folks we’ve passed are all observing healthy space.

Here’s what’s coming up on Sunday and during the week

We’ll have another virtual service on Sunday.
We will be using Zoom teleconferencing. You can join via a computer, tablet or smartphone for visual teleconference.  If you don’t have the equipment, or don’t want to share video with us while you’re in your pajamas drinking coffee, you have two choices:

(1) you can turn off your video (button at the bottom left of your screen); or

(2) simply dial in using your phone and listen in like an old-style conference call.   We’ll be adding another half hour at the end of the service for time to chat so stick around!

Here is the information you will use to connect with the service:

Topic: FUUSM Events
Time: March 22, 2020, 10:00 AM Eastern Time (US and Canada)
We’re leaving an extra half hour to set up and check people’s connections.
The service will start at 10:30

If you’ve never used Zoom before, here’s a tutorial:

Please Note:

  • If you use Firefox, when you click on the link to the service, you may get a pop up message asking you to save a file.  Go ahead and save it; then click on the file name to start Zoom.  That will get your computer ready to participate.  YOU DO NOT HAVE TO DOWNLOAD ALL OF ZOOM.
On the Microsoft Edge browser, you may get a message that it is trying to open Zoom; go ahead and click “open” to start Zoom.  Or, if you’ve used Zoom before, you may get a pop-up message; just click on the button “Open Link.”

Once you get the hang of it, here’s what we’ll be doing to get ready on Sunday morning:

-Join the meeting about five to ten minutes early (10:20 – 10:25) to do sound and video checks with your device.

-Remember, you’re on video, and everyone will be able to see you!

-Look to the microphone icon on the toolbar of your screen (for a lot of us it will be bottom left) and click on it to mute yourself.

FUUSM Connects:  Need a break?  Feeling a bit isolated?

For the foreseeable future, we’ll be offering drop in times to catch up with friends.  If you don’t have a computer or device, you can still call in and we will hear each other (even if we can’t see everyone).

Coffee Hour — This ‘Zoom Room’ will be open every Tuesday morning from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m.

Let’s Do Lunch – We’ll join each other every Thursday from 12:00 noon to 1:00 p.m., or just stop by and say hello.

Please note:  The connecting link and telephone numbers for our drop-ins will be different; they’ll be on the new church account.  Look for the new contact information in an upcoming update.
