Minister’s Note

Greetings, members and friends of UU Middleboro! We’re already a month into the new church year, and the weather is getting crisper as the days shorten and nights lengthen. It’s time for pumpkins and candy corn and fall colors and (almost) time for pumpkin spice-flavored everything. Our tasks for the second year of interim ministry are coming clearly into focus. We’ve tried out a few sample covenant statements (bonds of fellowship) as unison readings the first four services of the year, and plans are in place for Andrea Priest to lead up a team to present a draft statement for ... October Music Musings

This month is starting out with a chance to drum-in a new month. On October 1 at 3:00 PM, Sam Holmstock will lead about 20 fine folks in a workshop to explore the rhythms of African and AfroCuban styles. We’ve got a range of talents from beginners to advanced. I’m so looking forward to learning new techniques and enjoying the magic that happens when we make music together. Music is an invitation to enter a unique part of our minds and to share that emotional journey with others. Recently our minister started singing “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer” from the pulpit, ... When We Grieve
Led by Peter Connolly

This Small Group Ministry is meeting weekly on Wednesdays for five weeks: October 4, 11, 18, 25, and November 1 from 12:15 to 1:45 p.m. Group is limited to 8 participants. The sign-up sheet is on the Parlor table. If there is sufficient interest, the ministry will be offered again in the spring.
New Search Ministerial Process

The process has advantages for us in addition to improving our chances of finding a minister. We are planning to use the process of “contract to call.” In this process, the Search Committee provides an application to candidates and interviews and reviews applications of any ministers who apply. The committee makes its recommendation to the PC, and if the PC finds the candidate acceptable, the PC negotiates a contract and hires the minister. Please click on the title to read more.
Coffee Hour Hosts Needed

Please sign up to host coffee hour after the service. This time of fellowship gives us all a chance for coffee and conversation and a relaxing way to catch up with each other. Instructions are provided, and we are keeping the snacks simple. Committees are invited to host a Sunday which is a great way to share your committee work. We'd love to get a regular schedule of hosts to share this task. Click on the title to read more and to sign up online, or you may use the sign-up sheet on the Parlor table.
Volunteer This Fall!

Community Book Box

Thank you to the Rotary Club for installing the Community Book Box on our church grounds. Thank you to Middleborough High School for creating the box. We are now welcoming donations of books from our church family. We are limiting donations to one reusable grocery bag full. Please place donations on the designated table in the Parish Hall underneath the windows. Please, no books that are musty or have water damage, no encyclopedias, no academic texts (your Psychology 101 book from 1965) . We have a team of volunteers who will sort the books and keep our Book Box full. Let us know if ... Read more
