Faith Trumps Fear
Rev. Danielle Di Bona preaching
Due to the impending snowstorm, our service on Sunday, February 9, has been cancelled.
However, there will be a snow-shoveling party at 1:00 pm on Sunday at the church. Bring shovels!
As the President makes good on his campaign threats, I am hearing from many colleagues and friends that they are afraid. Many of us may also be afraid of the changes that we can expect and those we are imagining. But, we are a people of faith….a faith upon which we can rest as we stay close to our communities of love and hope. Our faith will, indeed, keep us well.
The Reverend Danielle Di Bona has served Unitarian Universalism for over 30 years and is the 2018 recipient of the Award for Distinguished Service to the Cause of Unitarian Universalism and the 2004 recipient of The Melvin Hoover “Beloved Community Award” for outstanding service to Communities of Color in Unitarian Universalism. Rev. Di Bona received an Honorary Dr of Divinity Degree from Meadville Lombard Theological School in 2020. She served for 25 years as a hospice and hospital palliative medicine chaplain. Danielle is trying out retirement for the third time.
She has served as a member of the UU Nominating Committee, the Unitarian Universalist Women’s Federation board, and the Board of the Church of the Larger Fellowship. She previously provided AR/AO/MC support to the GA Planning Committee. Rev. Di Bona is the former President and Vice President of the Diverse and Revolutionary Unitarian Universalist Multicultural Ministries, and former DRUUMM Chaplain. She now serves on the Unitarian Universalist Service Committee Nominating Committee. Danielle is also a Chaplain to the UUA Board of Trustees.
In her retirement she trains and shows her dogs and had the honor of showing Rozi (Champion, Grand Champion Blue Ridge Vista Csendes) and Aldas (Blue Ridge Vista Aldas) at the Thanksgiving National Dog Show in Philadelphia and Westminster in Manhattan. She is now training her new puppy Pastore for the show ring.
