Building Rentals and Special Ceremonies

Our Sanctuary and Parish Hall are available to rent for your special occasion.  Please let us know the date and time so we can reserve your space.

Your Wedding at the Unitarian Universalist Society of Middleborough

Intimate and joyous weddings are our specialty in our historic 125+ year-old Victorian church. We can accommodate 125 in the Sanctuary and another 15 in the adjacent Parlor.  Our location in downtown Middleborough makes us convenient to both Route 495 and Route 44.  We can accommodate wheelchairs and have assistive listening devices for anyone who may require them.

The minister will help you plan a meaningful and memorable wedding ceremony. These services are available to both members of our congregation and non-members as well.  For smaller weddings of up to 75, we can make our Parish Hall available for receptions.

Scheduling Your Wedding

When you know the date of your wedding, call our church administrator, Valarie Ortelt, at 508-947-1935, or email her at office@uumiddleboro.org. If your date and time are available, she will send you rental forms and our building use policies.

You will be able to talk to Valarie about preliminary arrangements, and she will be able to show you the church and Parish Hall by appointment. Valarie’s office hours at the church are Tuesday and Thursday 9:00 am–2:30 pm.

If you wish, you can attend a Sunday service.

Minister

Our minister will work with you to create the ceremony that reflects your vision of your wedding. The minister provides you with a sample ceremony that you can use as a springboard from which you can choose most of the text, including those for your vows and exchange of rings.

You may meet with the minister at least twice: once for premarital discussion and a second time to plan the flow of the ceremony and to finalize all the elements of your special day.

There will be a wedding rehearsal the day before the wedding, or some time close if that is more convenient for your wedding party.

For more information, you can contact the minister at minister@uumiddleboro.org or call the church office at 508-947-1935.

Unitarian Universalists have long advocated for the rights of gay and lesbian men and women.
The Unitarian Universalist Society of Middleborough has been privileged to perform ceremonies of union and same-sex weddings for many years and looks forward to continuing the tradition for many more.

Child Dedications

Please contact the minsiter if you are interested in having your child dedicated at the First Unitarian Universalist Society of Middleborough.  She will help you create the kind of ceremony you envision.

Memorial Services

Our Sanctuary and Parish Hall are available for a Memorial Service for your loved one.  Please contact the minister if the need arises.
