CUUPS Ostara Ritual
March 24 @ 7:00 pm – 9:00 pm
The Wheel of the Year has turned once again, bringing us to the much anticipated Vernal Equinox, or Ostara. We have had a traditional New England winter this year, so the arrival of Springtime is especially welcome. It is one of two times each year when the hours of light and the hours of dark are equal in length, reminding us both of the duality of our world and the importance of balance.
The word Ostara comes from the Anglo-Saxon name for the goddess of Springtime, who was associated with the return of the sun and the rebirth of the Earth. It is a solar festival and was celebrated in ancient times with bonfires, flowers, rabbits and eggs, representing fertility and a time of new life burgeoning across the lands.
Join us tonight as we circle round to welcome Ostara with ritual, poetry and more. You are welcome to bring a reading or favorite poem to share. A simple potluck feast will follow. All are welcome.
Note: The church calendar contains some events that are not open to everyone, so that we can plan for building use. Open events are shown on the home page. Click on an event to show the full description.
