Enslavement & Resistance in New England: 1620 to 1760
December 6, 2023 @ 7:00 pm – 8:30 pm
Race & Slavery at First Church (Unitarian) in Roxbury.
At UU Urban Ministry, 10 Putnam St, Boston, and ONLINE.
Boston played a major role in the trans-Atlantic slave trade, and people were enslaved throughout all of Boston’s neighborhoods. This final presentation in Partnership of Historic Bostons’ fall lecture series on Enslavement and Resistance in New England looks at the relevance of the colonial past in answering the question: What steps should Boston take today?
Harvard PhD Aabid Allibhai is joined by former MA legislator and lifelong activist Byron Rushing and Rev. Mary Margaret Earl of UU Urban Ministry.
