How Lies Become Truth on Zoom
Presented by Living Legacy
March 19 @ 7:30 pm – 9:00 pm
Another great Zoom presentation by Living Legacy from their Spring series, Giving Life the Shape of Justice. Register at https://www.livinglegacypilgrimage.org/2025springeducationseries.html. Program is free; donations are gratefully received.
How do false narratives take hold and become widely accepted as truth? This webinar will honor the 60th anniversary of the Selma Voting Rights Campaign and the memory of UU Rev. James Reeb.
Journalists Andrew Grace and Chip Brantley of NPR will explore social and psychological forces that allow misinformation to spread and shape public perception. Their White Lies podcast examines the hidden truths behind Reeb’s 1965 murder in Selma. Through this and other real-world examples and historical context, the presenters will shed light on how societies come to believe, and even defend, falsehoods, and what it takes to challenge them.
Sign in early at 7:15 to catch some good music before the program begins. Following the program, you can sign into a separate Zoom for Q&A and discussion.
