As we prepare to update the Mission Statement for the First UU Society of Middleboro, it may he belpful to review the results of other UU congregations’ efforts. Here are some examples we have collected:
The process has advantages for us in addition to improving our chances of finding a minister. We are planning to use the process of “contract to call.” In this process, the Search Committee provides an application to candidates and interviews and reviews applications of any ministers who apply. The committee makes its recommendation to the PC, and if the PC finds the candidate acceptable, the PC negotiates a contract and hires the minister. Please click on the title to read more.
FUUSM’s 2023 Annual Meeting was held in the Church Sanctuary on June 16, 2023. Twenty-four members attended the meeting. The Congregation was notified of the meeting through FUUSM’s UU Updates and the Church’s website. Notice included a copy of the Warrant, the Church’s Annual Reports for 2022-23, the Finance Report for 2022-23, and the proposed budget for the 2023-2024 Church year. President Jim Bonnar called the meeting to order at 7:11 PM and provided a brief summary of the Annual Report. The Congregation then voted on the following Articles: Article I: To accept the minutes from last year’s Annual Meeting.

Sustainable Middleboro: The PC recently received a written request from Alan Melchior on behalf of Sustainable Middleboro to continue our partnership with Sustainable Middleboro as fiscal agent into the next grant year. Treasurer’s Report: Bob Waterman reported that there is currently a $21,000 budget surplus, and we have not withdrawn from our investments this year. We still need to make our contribution to the UUA. We are a little behind on pledge collections and may not meet the pledge goal as budgeted for this year.
