Cooler Middleborough
April 29, 2023 @ 11:00 am – 2:00 pm
Saturday, April 29 11:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.
at the Middleborough High School Gym, 71 East Grove Street
The Cooler Middleborough Fair will be a free, fun, educational event for all ages to learn about energy efficiency and our local environment. The fair will be from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, April 29, at the Middleborough High School gym, 71 E. Grove Street. Sustainable Middleborough is looking for volunteers from the church. Please contact Dody Adkins-Perry or Sandy Smiley.
For grownups, the fair will provide one stop to learn about home energy audits, rebates, tax credits, insulation, heat pumps, solar, and electric vehicles. Local contractors, nonprofit organizations, and Middleborough Gas & Electric will be on hand to answer your questions, sign you up for energy audits and home estimates, and demonstrate what you can do to save money on energy.
For kids and families, there will be fun crafts and activities, including a life-size inflatable whale you can walk inside, and a competition showcasing student energy projects and what they’re learning.
Three local organizations are cosponsoring the fair—Sustainable Middleborough, the high school’s environmental YESS Club, and the New England Coastal Wildlife Alliance, with help from a grant from the Cooler Communities organization.
The fair is part of a campaign to weatherize our town and help residents save money on heating and cooling, especially our low/moderate-income families.
“It’s been a blast planning this with the students, hearing about their project ideas, and seeing their enthusiasm for their community and the environment,” says Sustainable Middleborough leader Kimberly French. “This is going to be such a fun and informative event for the whole town.”
Note: The church calendar contains some events that are not open to everyone, so that we can plan for building use. Open events are shown on the home page. Click on an event to show the full description.
