CUUPS Samhain Ritual
October 28 @ 7:00 pm – 9:00 pm
The Wheel has turned once again to Samhain. It is said to be the time when the veil between the worlds is at its thinnest, making communication with our beloved dead most favorable.
The past year has seen many losses and leave-takings for us both personally and as a church family. The outer world of politics and climate change brings another layer of upheaval that is difficult to navigate. Tonite we will remember our ancestors…those who came before us and who also faced difficulties and losses. Our very presence is testimony to their perseverance and ultimate triumph over adversity. We will invite them to come close.
Invoking sacred space with our candles and callings, we will create a circle of safety and love within which all may feel seen and held. An altar will be set up to receive photos or mementos of our beloved dead. Whether your loss is recent or remote, human or more than, personal or communal, all expressions are warmly received. It is in remembering our beloved dead that we keep them alive. Know also that simply witnessing in silence and being part of the circle is fine. Some losses may still be too tender to share. We can still support each other by our presence.
Our time together will end with a simple potluck feast. Please also bring an item for the Food Pantry. Robes, costumes or your best witchy garb is also fine. There is no better time than Samhain for that Little Black Dress and pointy hat.
All are welcome.
Note: The church calendar contains some events that are not open to everyone, so that we can plan for building use. Open events are shown on the home page. Click on an event to show the full description.
