MINISTRY IN THE LIGHT OF LOSS
This spring, as Rev. Sarah Person concludes her ministry with us, we will begin a period of transition. It’s tempting to rush transitions, hoping to skip over the sadness and uncertainty they bring. But a change of ministers can be a time of creativity and growth. Dan Hotchkiss has helped hundreds of ministers and congregations in transition—as a national UU leader and then as a consultant across many faith communities. Dan will share some insights about what times of transition have to teach us about ministry and life. Special music will be provided by members of the Chalice Choir singing Esto Les Digo (This I Tell You).
Rev. Dan Hotchkiss is a UU minister and author of Governance and Ministry: Rethinking Board Leadership. Over the last 20 years, Dan has consulted with Christian, Jewish, and Islamic leaders in more than 33 faith traditions on planning, leadership, and board governance. Previously, Dan managed ministerial placement for the UUA and served parishes in New Haven and Boca Raton. He is active in the First UU Church of Middleboro, where his wife Susan serves as music director.
