The Earth as Anam Cara
Led by the Local Chapter of the Covenant of Unitarian Universalist Pagans
In the Celtic tradition, there is a beautiful understanding of love and friendship, a deep soul love known as “anam cara”. In the early Celtic church, one who acted as a teacher, companion or spiritual guide was known by this name.
Humans are the most recent arrivals on this earth, with the rest of creation being our older siblings. All other life forms have much to share with us, and we certainly have much to learn. Each being is on its own unique path. Our paths are intertwined in intimate ways. The Earth Herself is unable to attain her fullest expression and destiny without us. Imagine what we could co-create if we thought of the Earth as our “Anam Cara”. Our service will feature reading, poetry, and music that honors the beauty and the sacredness of the Earth. The Chalice Choir and Ensemble will be adding their voices.
