Conceptualizing Kwanzaa in 2023: Personal Observations and Reflections

What was Dr. Karenga’s intent in creating Kwanzaa in 1966? Has the holiday’s observance changed over time? As an educational, cultural holiday celebrating the history of Africans in America and throughout the African Diaspora, what role must it play in the current, divisive socio-political environment”. Let us mull these things over together and, of course, raise our voices in song and spirit! Adrienne will be assisted by members of the Chalice Choir.
