New Song Circle at FUUSM!

We are starting a brand new Song Circle at FUUSM for folks who enjoy getting together with others to sing — no particular expertise required, the point is having fun and learning!

Friday, March 24, in the Parish Hall
6:00 – 8:00 p.m.

It will begin on Friday, March 24, from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at the church and will run on the SECOND FRIDAY OF EACH MONTH after that. This activity is sponsored by the church and open to the community at large. So invite your friends!

The Song Circle will start with a potluck of hearty snacks, coffee, tea, and water in the Parish Hall, so bring along a favorite treat to share.  A circle of chairs will be set up along with a portable keyboard, and we will provide some percussion instruments.  Participants can bring their own guitars, ukuleles, dulcimers, etc., or just their voices — hands for clapping and feet for stomping!

This is a shared activity and not a performance. We will probably sing mainly folk songs, but you may hear almost anything at one time or another. There’s no official body of songs, although some people may want to bring “Rise Up Singing” or its sequel “Rise Again” or other songbooks, which are full of hundreds of favorite songs, with all the lyrics. We have no dues or other membership requirements.

Our coordinators will kick off the singing, and then we move around the circle with others leading a song or sharing a piece of poetry.  One can always pass. Listeners are part of the circle as this is not a performance with an audience.  We will encourage everyone to be ready to lead a song — to know the lyrics, the key, etc.  They can teach the song or the chorus or simply share a piece, with or without accompaniment. Everyone is encouraged to jump right in and become part of the fun of making music together!

We hope you will join us for this lively new activity sponsored by the church and open to the public!  RSVP to andreapriesto@gmail.com so we can add your chair to the circle!

Hope to see you there! 🎶🎸🪕🎹🪘🎻🎶🎶
