The Clay Parlor task group (Cheryl MacQueen, Vi Fairweather, Susie Sherman, Linda Thompson, Deanne Bonnar and Jim Bonnar) met on July 10 to authorize beginning the structural work on the parlor and to discuss decorating and furnishing the parlor.
The altar in the room has already been downsized so that it does not impede foot traffic. The upper walls and ceiling will be covered with new wallboard with a smooth finish. This work will begin on July 20.
The floor will be sanded and refinished to match the sanctuary. Lighting will be installed along the trim above the lower walls to reflect back off the ceiling. It will have a dimmer switch to allow the lighting to fit the mood of events. The room will be painted with pastel colors picked up from Avis Clay’s painting.
