The Cash in the Plate for February will be donated to the Brockton Branch NAACP. The NAACP’s mission is to ensure the political, educational, social, and economic equality of rights of all persons and to eliminate racial discrimination.
Brockton has been involved in the NAACP since the 1920s, and the Brockton Branch was established in 1954. Brockton is among the most racially and ethnically diverse cities in Massachusetts, exceeded only by Randolph, Springfield, Chelsea and Lawrence.
The Brockton Area Branch was chartered in 1954. Brockton’s involvement with the NAACP dates back to the 1920’s, which was really very shortly after the founding of the NAACP in 1909. And Brockton is one of the largest “majority minority” cities in MA. This is why the SJ team continues to believe FUUSM’s support of the Brockton Area Branch of the NAACP is important.
