We meet weekly on a virtual platform at 10:00 a.m. on Sunday mornings. We are following our faithful footprints. The children have handouts from the curriculum and are coloring in trees, signs and feet for our path through the church. Information about family time ideas is being provided, and we have had a great start to our church school year.
The curriculum we are working on has started us on a pilgrimage of faith, exploring how Unitarian Universalism translates into life choices and everyday action. We have already filled out a couple of our footprints with our deeds of the week – talking to another child at soccer to make them feel welcome, swimming as part of a team and adding to the team spirit and more. We have explored a couple historic and a couple contemporary examples of Unitarian Universalist faith in action through stories about real people who have activated their personal agency and capacity to act faithfully.
We will have our first in-person RE meeting soon. We tried to meet in October and were excited for our first in-person party on October 30 to celebrate Halloween.
RE Parent Meeting
We rescheduled this month’s meeting for a date and will go back to our 2nd Sunday of the month at 11:45. Our meeting will be held 11/14/2021. I will send a reminder, but it will be the same link we used last year. Our goal is usually to discuss how things are going in the program, in school for our children and in our homes for ourselves and our children.
Senior Youth and Junior Youth
Greg Stevens, Kelly Lownds and Barbara Bancroft are working with the Senior and Junior Youth Groups. We are meeting on the second and fourth Sunday evenings of the month. Greg and I run the group the second Sunday, and Barbara and I will run the group the fourth Sunday. We have Youth Group from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. – splitting the time so that Junior Youth attends from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. and Senior Youth attends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m.
Coming of Age
We started the Coming of Age curriculum the second Sunday of October (10/10) with the group meeting from 4:00 to 6:00. We had five children joining the curriculum – Niko, Conor, Mia, Sebastian and Jesse. We are going to have a mentor meeting at the beginning of November and a parent meeting. Greg Stevens and I are running the Coming of Age group. Kelly Lownds, Director of Religious Exploration
