Event Series Just This Sangha

Just This Sangha

Just This Sangha meets virtually (via Zoom) nearly every Friday evening from 6:00 to 7:30 for silent meditation and sharing of our practice experience. From a Buddhist, particularly Zen, perspective, we focus on bringing practice to daily life; exploring letting go of our usual habitual reactivity and opening to our selves and others as we actually are. Not a drop-in group, we do welcome potentially new members to join us for a few sessions to see if the group is a good fit. Contact Tom Tanguay at thisjustthis@gmail.com for more information.

Truth Be Told – An Indigenous Perspective on Thanksgiving

Religious Exploration Youthand Social Justice Team presenting Thanksgiving is a National Day of Mourning for some Native American tribes.   The youth and members of the Social Justice Team will try to bring a message of hope for today’s service.  There will be a variety of readings and reflections from adults and children in the congregation to celebrate and appreciate the indigenous perspective.  Special music will be provided by members of the Chalice Choir.

Body of Memory

Rev. Sarah Person preaching Rabbi Edwin Friedman used to advise clergy that, when we encountered another person in the course of our calling, we were talking with not just them, but with the generations before them.  It is also true that our bodies retain the genetic and emotional imprints, not only of our own lives, but also the lives of our forebears.  It is an important reminder for our relationships with others, and with ourselves.
