I sometimes think about the big questions, like “What’s it all about?” But most of the time I’m wondering about smaller questions, like “What music will we do this Sunday?” As Unitarian Universalists, we do not have a mandatory creed or system of belief, nor do we follow a liturgical tradition. Instead, we do our best to design worship that encourages exploration, growth, and change. It’s a creative challenge, and sometimes we succeed! It’s lovely to work with so many dedicated musicians.
At the beginning of the church year, I handed out scores for John Rutter’s Requiem. The choir geeks were in ecstasy. Others trembled in trepidation. I’m so proud of the Chalice Choir for stepping up to take on such a large work. Come to Music Sunday on May 21. I can’t wait to put it all together! Susan Land Hotchkiss,
